We are so proud of the pupils (and staff) from Room 8 who recently completed a Marathon (42 km) by walking and cycling over the course of a number of weeks. Whilst participating in this Marathon event, pupils were also working on many of their learning goals and next steps e.g. learning to cycle and co-ordinate movement and steering control, learning to walk outdoors in the local community (while staying safe on the footpath) thus creating a real purpose to pupils' movement breaks and increased fitness levels.
This challenge was completed in conjunction with Kids Marathon Ireland, who have greatly supported the children with top tips for keeping on target. As a school we ensure to celebrate all pupils' achievements and so, in keeping with this, we had great celebrations to mark this outstanding achievement.
We were delighted to invite Westlife Star, Nicky Byrne and Fingal Councillor Joan Hopkins to present medals to the pupils. The entire school community came out to the School's Sensory Garden to celebrate and cheer on the athletes as they completed their final kilometre.
Thanks also to Northside People for the lovely article !
Well done Stephen, Martin, Nevin and Warren. We are so proud of you :)
